Teaching English as a Second Language Minor (K – 12) Endorsement

IUPUI School of Education

This program is for certified teachers wishing to pursue an endorsement (K-12) in ESL. (24 credit hours)

Master of Science of Education Degree; Language Education – ESL Concentration

IUPUI School of Education

Prepares elementary and secondary classroom teachers of English, ESL/EFL, foreign languages, and reading for positions of leadership in their fields, particularly in the development of improved instructional procedures and curricula. (36 credit hours)

Post - B. A. TESL Certificate Program IUPUI Department of English

The English as a Second Language Program offers a certificate for students who have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution and who would like to be trained in teaching English to nonnative speakers of English.

Through the required course work students will become familiar with the major theoretical foundations of teaching English as a foreign and second language.  Moreover, they will become acquainted with the ESL/EFL pedagogy and materials.  The students will acquire actual teaching experience through practice teaching in authentic ESL or EFL classrooms.  The student who completes the certificate in TESL will be able to teach ESL and EFL to adult and post-secondary learners in the USA and overseas.

Master of Arts Program in English IUPUI Department of English

Prepares students for careers teaching writing and literature, teaching ESL, and teaching writing for business, government, and other professions. (36 credit hours)
